Stomach and Duodenum GROSS ANATOMY OF THE STOMACH AND DUODENUM Arteries
ثبت نشده
چکیده
The stomach has an arterial supply on both the lesser and greater curves . On the lesser curve, the left gastric artery, a branch of the coeliac axis, forms an anastomotic arcade with the right gastric artery, which arises from the common hepatic artery. The gastroduodenal artery, which is also a branch of the hepatic artery, passes behind the first part of the duodenum. Here it divides into the superior pancreaticoduodenal artery and the right gastroepiploic artery. The superior pancreaticoduodenal artery supplies the duodenum and pancreatic head, and forms an anastomosis with the inferior pancreaticoduodenal artery, a branch of the superior mesenteric artery. The right gastroepiploic artery runs along the greater curvature of the stomach, eventually forming an anastomosis with the left gastroepiploic artery, a branch of the splenic artery. The fundus of the stomach is supplied by the vasa brevia (or short gastric arteries), which arise near the termination of the splenic artery.

متن کاملA middle age addicted man with caustic stomach
Background: The term caustic generally refers to alkaline and the term corrosive generally refers to acidic agents' injury however, in medical literature caustic is frequently a term applied to both substances. Ingested alkali typically damage the esophagus more than stomach or duodenum, whereas acids usually cause more severe gastric injury. Since esophagus has a slightly alkaline pH, its epit...
متن کاملDistribution and relative frequency of immunohistochemically detected endocrine cells in the stomach of New Zealand White rabbit (Oryctolagus cuniculus)
Background: Gastrointestinal (GI) endocrine cells produce many GI hormones that perform various physiological functions of the digestive system. Aims: We aimed to investigate the presence and distribution of immunoreactive (IR) endocrine cells to glucagon, somatostatin, cholecystokinin-8 (CCK-8), serotonin, secretin and histamine in the stomach of adult male Ne...
متن کاملAnomalous branching pattern of celiac trunk
The hepatic, splenic and left gastric arteries are considered as the ‘‘main classic branches’’ of the celiac trunk (CT). In the embryonic life, yolk sac is supplied by vitelline arteries. Later they gradually fuse and help in formation of the arteries dorsal to the mesentery of the gut. In the adult, they are developed as CT, superior mesenteric and inferior mesenteric arteries. These vessels s...
